As an innovation of modern enterprise structure and system, the strategic alliance of transnational corporations has become one of the most important methods to enhance the international competence. It is well known as the most important structural innovation ever since the 1920s.Strategic alliance, also called cooperative arrangement, is a kind of combined operation which is conducted by two or more transnational corporations due to the expectation on the world market and their objectives at large. The combination is spontaneous. Each party still keep their independence on the management. They reach all kinds of agreements between each other and integrate to a relax combination. Generally speaking, the alliance of big transnational corporations is always multi-lateral and network-structured. The relation between the corporations has become interactional and complex. The idea of nationality desalted with the time. The corporations have become "non-nationality" corporations. As for China' s car industry, the concept of strategic alliance is not strange. Since 1984 when BJC formed a joint venture with AMC, 20 years past on the practices of strategic alliance in China' s car industry. We can divide this 20 years into two phases. The first phase is in 1980s when we focused on introducing advanced foreign technologies. The second phase is in 1990s when we focused on establishing joint ventures by the means of "market for technology" .Strategic alliance can upgrade the whole competence of China's car industry as well as introduce foreign capital, technology and managerial experiences. It can alsodevelop the domestic market, expand economic scale and promote the development of relative industries. In 1992, China's car turnover broke the record of 1,000,000. In 2000, the number exceeded 2,000,000. In 2002, the number reached 3,250,000. China has become the sixth big car manufacturing country after American, Japan, Germany, France and Korea. China's car industry has reached a relatively high level and big scale. A lot of car companies with international competence came out.At present, there are not many researches on the transnational strategic alliance of car industry.
