Study On Regional Innovation Systems Of American

Innovation systems had been one of the hottest researching fields recently. Along with the process of globalization and the vanishing of international boundaries, region becomes the real entity of economic benefit and regional innovation system attracts more and more attention now. Regional innovation systems (RIS) of USA, which is the biggest economy entity in the world, provide us with some valuable experiences and characteristics. However, most researches of domestic researchers focus on some specific areas rather than carry out a systematic and complete study on the whole.In the beginning of this paper, the author brings forward the definition of RIS as the theoretic framework for further study. The author then discusses the main elements of RIS in the framework and provided a criterion for judging the efficiency of a RIS. On the basis of the framework and criterion, the author analyzes regional innovation systems of USA according to the characteristics of them.The current situation of RIS of USA is the first problem the author analyzed. This includes the characteristics and the main elements of RIS of USA as well as the cooperation and relationship between these elements. After that, the author uses the input and output data (R&D expenditures, human resources and professional papers etc.) for further analysis. By analyzing the data of USA, the author comes up with the characteristics of RIS in three phases as well as the evolving path of RIS of USA. The author also studies the structural and layout adjustment of RIS of USA. On the basis of quantitative and qualitative analysis, the author come up with the evolving law and forecast the future development of RIS of USA.At last, by using the above conclusions and the current situation of the RIS of China, the problems of RIS of China are pointed out. Countermeasures and suggestions are put forward by consulting the experiences and strengths of RIS of USA.
