At present, Urbanization has already become one of the major manners for human to change the Earth and the landuse/landcover change in urbanization is also turning into one typical interaction between hunman and the Earth. After 1980s, landuse/landcover change has occured in large-scale and urbanization was the main change in Hangzhou City. From 1994 to 2004, the urban area extended about 40,000 hektare, as two point five times of the formerly area. The systematic and integrative research on the landuse/landcover change in urbanization in Hangzhou City is benefit for finding out the basic laws and rules of change. Then, it can support the decision-making of region development. Therefore, The dissertation here carry out the systematic and integrative case study of the landuse/landcover change from 1994 to 2004 in Hangzhou City by three TM images, with the aim to understand the basic laws and rules of landuse/landcover change in urbanization in Hangzhou City and further the current landuse/landcover change research. The leading conclusions of this dissertation can be seen as follows:(1) The research on landuse/landcover change detection methodsChange detection with remote sensing images has different methods. However, no one is the best and fit to any case, because of their own advantage and limitation. So we should make evaluation and comparison with different methods maybe used before change detection, to choose the best one which fits to the typical area. This dissertation does one comparison between Postclassification Comparison Method, Principal Components Analysis Method and Change Vector Analysis Method, the results show that the two methods behind are better than the forward one.(2) Landuse/landcover change detection in Hangzhou CityLanduse/landcover change detection is one basic content of global change. It is benefit for solving the uncertainty problem in durative of global biogeocenose. And it ensures the nation or region treats with resource and environment problem effectively. In this dissertation, the landuse/landcover changes in Hangzhou City between 1994 and 2004 were detected by using stacked bi-temporal TM images. The results show that during ten years study area had undergone obvious land cover changes. It is different on region and times for farmland changes, but the quality takes on downtrend. And urban in Hangzhou City increases quiken up, which is almosttransformed from farmland. And for water area, it also has great difference in region and times.(3) The analysis for urban growth and drive motivation in Hangzhou CityUrban growth in different space time can be detected commendably by remote sensing technology. In this dissertation, urban growth from 1994 to 2004 in Hangzhou City is obtained by the three TM images, 1994, 1999 and 2004. The laws and process is analyzed with urbanization scale exponential and urbanization intensity exponential. And it shows that there are three modalities of polygon urbanization, line urbanization and point urbanization, which get original six sections as central city, and yuhang and xiaoshan as sub-central city. The urbanization mechanism are analyzed carefully by the the internal and external factors. The former includes landform, trafic, etc. and the later covers the policy, economic and population, etc. And it shows that urbanization in Hangzhou City is affected by these factors simultaneously.(4) The urbanization model in Hangzhou CityThere are many factors affect the city development. Therefore, we choose seven factors in Hangzhou City, that include five internal factors and two force factors. Then one city expansion model in the metropolitan areas is developed based on the Cellular Automata (CA) model from the viewpoint that the city development is affected simultaneously by the external constraint factors and the internal expanding ability of urban cells. The city development in Hangzhou City from 1994 to 2004 is simulated. The results suggest that the model can reflect the characteristics and rules of the city development at a certain extent.(5) Change detection of heat island in Hangzhou CityCity heat island has correlation with many factors, just like pollution of atmosphere, energy sources release from production movement, high building proportion, distribution of water area, vegetation, type of surface and etc. Therefore, city heat environment is not just one temperature index, but integrative connotation of factors relate to above. The appeatance of high strength heat island is the immediacy exhibition of environment deterioration. TM6 images which are able to offer exact and abundant information for estimation and investigation of city heat environment, are the most common used data for the research on heat island by remote sensing technology. It has good application value and generalization foreground. In this dissertation, the effect of heat island and changes of thermal environment between 1994, 1999 and 2004 in Hangzhou City were analyzed by using Landsat TM6 images which were obtained on the 29th June, 1994 and 1st October, 1999 and 26th July, 2004 respectively. The results show that the distribution and extending of heat island is consistent with the contour of city.
