Whether in developed countries or in developing countries, one of the most distinct characteristics is that region near city boosts and wide area expands during urbanization in recent years. For urban structure, urban fringe is most sensitive to urbanization and changes most greatly and rapidly. Price making of arable land expropriation is still a trouble spot in research of land price. However, it presses'us for fair valuation of arable land in urban fringe that land market grows up.Existing compensation mode was given birth in planned economy epoch. It is a given product in specific historical context. Obviously, the existing mode is not suitable for market economy any longer. This thesis takes Chengdu city as an example and defines its urban fringe, according to "overall planning for Chengdu city (from 1995 to 2020)". Then limitation lying in current compensation price mode of arable land expropriation in urban fringe in China is analyzed and a new one, Richard land rent and price model, is reconstructed. Finally, the model is corrected. In this thesis, works such as determining parameters, speculating and calculating the model and checking the results are done, basing respectively on land-value of residence and commerce in 2002 in Chengdu city. The results indicate that location land rent which does not equal zero exists in marginal zone of city. It bears out the rationality of correcting the model. Besides, by speculating and calculating the land price of urban fringe with corrected Richard model, the results are basically in agreement with auction price in land market. It shows that corrected price making mode is in more proximity to market price and is a price-making of farmer land ownership. At the same time, the mode ensures the owner of land a demand of increment profit from land and protects the benefit of farmer collectivity. Finally, some deficiencies in the thesis are presented. An outlook for future study is also had.
