| The neoclassical economics has concluded that economy will finally come into convergence. After that, many regional science researchers, economists, planners, policy-makers, who believe too big disparity is likely to bring social problems, have great interest in it. However, the contrast between theory and reality compels or attracts scholars to interpret, argue, self-reflect, animadvert and amend it, then the convergence of economic growth gets deepened during the course. In the previous study, region was mostly regarded as'island', and their mutual relation was often ignored. As we all know, regional economy is an open system. Such factors as product trade, factor mobility, knowledge diffusion and technological diffusion make anfractuous relation lie in the system. So region is mutual related, not isolated. The economic growth of one region depends on not only its element devotion, but also growth traces of other regions. Through technologies as spatial autocorrelation, Markov chain, Spatial Markov chain, spatial regression models, the paper concerns the autocorrelation intensity, autocorrelation models, dynamic spatial models, convergence club and the roles spatial elements play in convergence in 1952-2003 provincial economy growth of China. This dissertation is divided into five chapters.Chapter one, on the basis of analyzing internal and external literatures, beginning with the exist problems, considering these problems as research aim, the dissertation constructs the research thought and frame.Chapter two briefly introduces the research regions, data source and partial methods. It also particularizes spatial econometrics and spatial regression model.Chapter three first studies the temporal evolvement characteristics of club convergence in the development of Chinese regional economy. It also discusses the spatial characteristics of club convergence by virtue of visualizing its spatial structure.
