The Design And Implementation Of Alxa Desert Global Geopark Information Managing System

Information Management System of Geopark (GIMS), which is the combination of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Geopark, has provided convenient quick method of information acquisition and management for Geopark. So it will enhance geopark abilities of storage, management, processing to all kinds of geopark’s data, and auxiliary decision-making.The procedure of design and implementation of the Geopark Information Management System are introduced detailedly by case of Alxa Desert Global Geopark in this paper.Based on the analysis of the development of GIMS at home and abroad, this article has identified the existing problems, and provided the solution to the design and implementation of the Alxa Desert Global Geopark Information Management System (ADGGIMS).The basic theory and frame about the ADGGIMS, the user requirement analysis, the summary design, the function design, the database design and the implementation method of the system have been specified in detail in the paper. In all, this article intensive introduced the design of the ADGGIMS.There are two main achievements in the research; one is the Geological Relics Database which is made up of Geodatabase and Oracle, the other is the ADGGIMS based on second development platform-ArcGIS. The ADGGIMS not only can browse maps, imitate the 3D terrain, query attributes and complete other functions of GIS, but also can administer the data, query information, use the materials and have other abilities of Management Information System (MIS). The paper also discussed the content and orientation of the next work plan and the problems we should pay attention to in the future.
