The concept of value-free in philosophy caused widespread controversy inphilosophy, especially in philosophy of science. Feminism philosophy of science use itsunique perspective to response this issue. As a representative of post-modern feminismphilosophy of science, Elizabeth Potter tries to sharply criticize the concept ofvalue-free in philosophy of science. Porter is a scholar who has rich experience inteaching and practice. At the same time she is leader of women program in the famousMills College, which is led by her to explore the forefront associated field in the world.She developed the concept of context value and its close connection with the process offormation and accept of scientific hypothesis. From this point of view, she puts forwardthe concept of anti-value-free. In this paper, Potter’s feminism philosophy of sciencethoughts is cleared up from the perceptive of anti-value-free, showing the developmentof her thought process and also discussing the essence of this concept.This paper starts studying the concept of value-free. After Max Weber formally putforward this concept, the discussion on this issue in philosophy of science never stoppedas well as in feminism philosophy of science. Before the discussion of Potter’s thought,this issue in logical positivism and feminism philosophy of science especially inpost-modern feminism philosophy of science. At the same time, her life and personalcharacteristics are analyzed to deepen her thought. Using probability hypothesis andhow to choose, accept and exclude the hypothesis in the process of the formation of ascientific hypothesis, Elizabeth Potter pointed out it can’t be value-free by the study ofcontext of justification. Furthermore, she focused on the description aspects andmeta-philosophical norms.Comparing her feminism philosophy of science thought with other feminismphilosophy of science thought and dating back to the issue in philosophy of science, thispaper analyzes Potter’s thought by means of introduction of context in linguisticphilosophy, post-modernism and meta-physics. The innovation and significance of herthought are demonstrated as well as its shortcomings.
