Land Suitability Evaluation In Wuzhishan City Of The Hainan Province

Land Suitability Evaluation is an important part of Land Evaluation, and it can give suggestions on how to use and manage land resources effectively. In this work,we analyze previous works on Land Suitability Evaluation systematically, and intend to figure out the application of Land Suitability Evaluation based on GIS technology and mathematical model through the study of land resources of Wuzhishan city in Hainan province, and then we can lay a reliable foundation for land resources using overall plan.The process of this study is as follows:Eight main impact factors suitable for Wuzhishan city are chosen from the factors which influence the Land Suitability Evaluation,and we use principal component analysis method to determine the weight of each impact factor, then an appropriate evaluation system is constructed. After that, Multiple polygons overlay technique on ArcGIS geograpHic information systems platform are used to divide new evaluation units, and the method is overlap Wuzhishan soil classification maps which has topology relationship with elevation map Wuzhishan superimposed through Multiple polygons overlay technique. New evaluation units assigned using Geodatabase, and then The amounts of the land suitable for agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry and spatial distribution Land suitability level image are carried out by calculation.Land suitable for agriculture suitability rating evaluation map of Wuzhishan city has shown that the land highly suitable for agriculture area is144295.8mu, which is8.52%of total land area of city. Medium suitable land area is800125.2mu, which is47.25%of total land area of city. Marginally suitable land area is729738.7mu, which is43.1%of total land area of city. Temporarily inappropriate land area is19140.3mu, which is1.13%of total land area of city.When it comes to forestry, land highly suitable for forestry is784567.8mu, which is46.33%of total land area of city. Medium suitable land area is687590.7mu, which is40.61%of total land area of city. Marginally suitable land area is206606.5 mu, which is12.2%of total land area of city. Temporarily inappropriate land area is14535mu, which is0.86%of total land area of city.As for farming, land highly suitable for farming is154708.8mu, which is9.13%of total land area of city. Medium suitable land area is740192.5mu, which is43.71%of total land area of city. Marginally suitable land area is783681.7mu, which is46.28%of total land area of city. Temporarily inappropriate land area is14717mu, which is0.88%of total land area of city.Finally, we give reasonable suggestions on rational utilization of land in Wuzhishan city by comparing calculation results with current land use situation.
