The bryophytes in the Wudalianchi volcanoes and habitats diversity were studied based on six different habitats. The potential of species development was preliminarily determined according to the analysis of bryophytes composition, reproductive characteristics of dominant species and the age structure. The results of species richness, degree of dominance and species diversity shows that the order is arranged from high to low as following:lithophilous habitat, chasmophilous habitat, humicolous habitat, corticolous habitat, helobious habitat, scoriaceous habitat. The water content and dominant species are different in various habitats. The drought-enduring bryophytes in lithophilous habitat and hygrophilous species in helobious habitat. There are also some species which can adjust to two or more habitats. Scoriaceous species in the forest of the Laoheishan and the Huoshaoshan forming large area of ground layer. The Racomitrium canescens and the Rhytidium rugosum covered more than84%of the area, and the cover degree of the lithophilous Grimmia pilifera can be78%. The R. canescens can absorb80t water per hectare. The water absorption capability of R. Rugosum was nearly7times than its own weight.Take fifteen species of mosses for example, the research shows that the main multiplication of different dominant mosses are vegetative propagation and specialized asexual reproduction, many of them are grow in three kinds of ways. Some species can get a chance of asexual reproduction by sexual reproduction, they can adjust the environment and grow on the dry habitats in volcanic rock. Almost all of the upper part of the habit is young, and the root is old. The root can nourish the upper part. Growing rates of most young mosses are higher than the aging mosses, which shows that bryophyte in the Wudalianchi has a higher growing potential. We found that R. rugosum and R. canescens spread in a high speed, but slow in thicken, which leads to great area of ground layer. Ptychomitrium sinense and G. pilifera are grew in a opposite way, which is lead to small hill. These results can reveal the characteristics of bryophyte habitats diversity and enriched the contents of volcanic bryophytes research. The study of reproductive characteristics of dominant species and the age structure can forecast the future development. Inferring the succession tendency will provide important basis for vegetation recovery and mechanism of species succession.
