Shiwandashan is located in the southwest edge of Guangxi Zhuang AutonomousRegion, it extends from northeast to southwest. It has abundant solar-thermalresources and rainfall for the North tropical monsoon climate. The core ofShiwandashan, Shiwandashan Natural Reserve is at the border of GuangxiFangchenggang and Shangsi, it covers a large area of tropical forests which is rare inGuangxi and even in China. Now, Shiwandashan has become one of16biodiversityprotection hotspots in China based on the project of national forestry system naturereserve. However, the bryophytes in the region has rarely been reported. The methods of traditional classification, quantitative classification andordination analysis, coefficient of similarity, diversity index and so on were appliedto study the flora, ecology and diversity pattern of bryophyte vegetation inShiwandashan, South of China. In June2011, we collected1275specimens ofbryophytes there. Based on comprehensive collecting and identifying of specimens, relatively complete checklist of bryophytes in Shiwandashan was provided (287taxabelonging to107genera and45families). There are80species and6genera ofbryophytes: Leucomium Mitt.、Taxithelium Spruce ex Mitt.、Entodontopsis Broth.、Jamensoniella (Spruce) F. Lees.、Tuzibeanthus S. Hatt.and Horikawaella Hatt.&Amaka.were reported for the first time in Guangxi, China. The geographical elements of the bryophyte in Shiwandashan can be divided into8types: north temperate element, old world temperate element, East Asia-NorthAmerica disjunctive element, old world tropical element, pantropic element, EastAsia element, Endemic to China and cosmopolitan element. Except for thecosmopolitan element, the dominant geographic element is old world tropical element(30.27%)and East Asia element(24.91%).In comparison of family, genus, species and geographical composition of mosses between Shiwandashan and other8regions, it shows Shiwandashan has the closest relation with Maoershan, Jiuwanshan,Yinzhulaoshan and Nabanhe, and is more distant with Foping and Shennongjia.
