It is very important of field practice teaching for Geoscience research personnel. In our modern society, in our modern society, university education model is constantly changing to adapt to today’s social environment and reform and innovate positively. In this case, the university geoscience field practice in the organization process will encounter some new problems, such as reducing the number of courses of professional courses leading to out of line for the field of theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of the students, which is difficult to ensure the quality of teaching; lacking the field internship funding and hard to protect the phenomenon; limited of field practice content; updating slowly of practical route; increasing the number of students year by year; lacking of guidance practice teachers and so on. Meanwhile the practice teaching mode of traditional field is also facing new challenges, mainly the entire class is explained by virtue of the scene, which will be affected by many factors of weather, voice, etc. And it is not easy to record, save and accumulate for internship teaching material, leading to repeated use of teaching material difficultly. Another important aspect is that in this era of information technology and globalization, students want to know more and more information and the traditional field of geoscience practice mode has disadvantages, which are also increasingly prominent and bits of powerless.Geographic information system (GIS) that is sometimes referred to as "geo-information system", which is very important to a particular spatial information systems. With the rapid development of Internet technology, the Internet and GIS technology combined gave rise to the Internet geographic information system that is Web GIS, which is relying on the Internet environment. The Web pages are seemed as the user interface and combine with the Internet technology and GIS technology to achieve application of geographic information. With the feature of cross-platform, good scalability, simple operative, distributed information sharing, and efficient load balancing, etc. It has been widely used in many fields. Taking into the geo-spatial characteristics internship consideration, geographic information system technology can be used to build virtual platforms.The main work of this paper are summarized as follows:1. Combine GIS with the problem of geo-science field practice work to analyze. A probe into the basic ways and solutions of virtual learning internship supporting by the technology of GIS, to determine the feasibility of this article.2. According to the current problems, the computer technology can be used to serve and improve existing practice teaching. The platform for requirements analysis, Take into the demand of users on the platform should have the knowledge to browse, query task internship, internship route queries, information inquiry of the practice point and practice simulation function. Considering these features of the data requirements.3. Design and construction of the platform environment, structure, function and database. The platform adopts B/S structure, to achieve the client is based on browser display using ASP.NET, EXT, and Silverlight etc. So users do not need to install client software in the use of this platform, only need a browser to open the corresponding address, reduce the user cost. The GIS application server uses Esri’s ArcGIS Server to achieve. Database server uses SQL Server2008, and use it for spatial data management through ArcSDE. Function of the platform is divided into two parts:One is a virtual internship part, is simulated field practice for students. By choosing the practical route, combined with the knowledge of the students to the practice of observation and analysis, to consolidate the knowledge; another is the knowledge base for virtual practice, before practice students can learn more knowledge through the knowledge base. This is taken into account during the internship, students can extended learning the theory of knowledge’s through the knowledge base, Helps to enhance students’ theoretical knowledge and broaden their horizons. Database design of the platform, mainly related to spatial data, attribute database and integration between the two.4. According to the design of platform, using ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS API for Silverlight, Ext technology, taking C#as the development language, the completion of a platform development.
