Marine Industry Competitiveness Research In Shandong Province

Marine industry, as an important part of economy system, is becoming neweconomy growth point in many places. Marine industry correlation coefficient is big，so it can promote whole economy and society to develop comprehensively. How toimprove competitiveness level of marine industry becomes the key to regional marinestrategy. Accessing the competitiveness of marine industry scientifically andobjectively and providing some suggestions to promote the level of competitiveness isvery important. This paper researches on the competitiveness of marine industry inShandong province.Through summarizing research literature about marine industry competitivenessat home and abroad, base on theory of comparative advantage and industrycompetitiveness; using the comparison analytic method, the combination of theoryand empirical methods, quantitative analysis method, chart analysis method and othermethods, from three aspects that marine industry development scale, marine industryinput, Marine science and technology education to build the evaluation index systemof marine industry competitiveness. Except for Shandong province, selecting the10coastal provinces and cities: Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang,Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan as the comparison sample, using factor analysismethod combined with statistical software SPSS to get three factors of Marineindustry competitiveness (Marine industrial foundation factor, human capital factor,Marine industry capital factor) and relevant weight. On this basis, comparedShandong with10other coastal provinces and cities for further analysis,comprehensive score of marine industry competitiveness in Shandong province is nothigh, and ranked sixth in11coastal provinces and cities in the country, indicates thegap exist in several aspects for marine industry and ocean economy in Shandongprovince when compared with10other provinces and cities. At last, this chapter give relevant advice to enhance coastal industry competiveness based on empiricalanalysis about coastal industry competitiveness in Shandong province combined withproblems emerged during the development of coastal industry in Shandong province,in order as reference for development plan of Blue economy. The content of thisarticle is divided into three parts: the first is the basis of the research, includes thestudy of the Marine industry competitiveness at home and abroad and the theoreticalfoundation of the Marine industry competitiveness; The second part is thecomprehensive description on the Marine industry development in Shandong province;The third part is mainly to establish evaluation system of Marine industry, the usingthe factor analysis to make a comprehensive analysis of Marine industrycompetitiveness in Shandong province. The research methods combining qualitativeanalysis with quantitative analysis, makes the results more reliable.The innovation of this chapter lies in the complete using factor analysis methodquantitatively to take comprehensive evaluation and analysis on the marine industrycompetitiveness in Shandong province; the index screened when building coastalindustry competitiveness is shown by relevant amount like quantity per capita,proportion rate, but no absolute amount like total amount, these overcame neglectingimbalanced regional economy development when compared the marine industry incoastal provinces and cities, and objectively reflect level the marine industry inShandong province among11provinces and cities, further more, propose specificadvice to enhance marine industry in Shandong province. The shortcoming is that inorder to ensure the testability of factor analysis and availability of date, the evaluationindex is not comprehensively selected or fully cover factor index effecting marineindustry.
