Leukocyte’s movement and deformation in blood vessels were closely relatedwith body’s physiological and pathological characteristics. Experimental studies havefound the phenomenon such as rolling, jumping and adhesion when leukocyte movednear the vessel wall. In this paper, the leukocyte’s movement and deformation werepreliminarily studied by numerical simulation method.Saw the flowing blood in the vessel as fluid and leukocyte as solid, the staticmodel of adhesion leukocyte and motility models were created according to the theoryof similarity. Based on the non-linear fluid-structure interaction theory, it is compiledC++program called both FLUENT and ANSYS software coupling and realized datatransferring between solid and fluid parameters. The coupling results of theleukocyte’s movement and deformation were achieved in this way.The relationship between the adhesion leukocyte’s static deformation and cellparameters such as modulus of elasticity, Poisson’s ratio, Reynolds number, initialcontact angle, nucleus position and nucleus modulus was preliminarily discussed. Thestudy found that, different factors had different effects. Smaller the modulus ofelasticity, greater influence on cell static deformation; Deformation increasedcorrespondingly with the Reynolds number; there was significant effects when theheight ratio of the nucleus was small, while when it increased to0.5, the deformationalmost unchanged. When the initial contact angle at90°≤φ≤130°, affection toleukocyte’s deformation was large, but when130°≤φ≤170°, the deformationplateaued. Calculated results and experimental results were matched well.Meanwhile, the phenomenon that leukocyte jumped periodically near the vesselwall and rolling phenomenon was studied and compared the leukocyte’s staticdeformation with dynamic deformation. The velocity showed oscillatory change whenleukocyte jumping and the forces acting on the leukocyte were also changedcorrespondingly. During the movement, leukocyte rolled in different directions.Rolling angle and velocity also changed periodically. The paper was available for theresearch of the static and dynamic deformation and movement of leukocyte in theblood vessels or cavity.
