Systematic Study Of The Butterfly Tribe Neptini From China(Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Limenitinae)

This study dealt with the morphology, taxonomy and geographic distribution of Chinese Neptini, including the research history, current research progress of Neptini at home and abroad, taxonomic characteristics, species description, and geographic distribution, etc.In total, 42 species belonging to 3 genera were identified and described in this study. Figures of 42 male genitalia and 25 female genitalia were provided. The male genitalia of Neptis choui Yuan & Wang, 1994 was revised, and figures of its genitalia were provided. The morphological characteristic and male genitalia of Neptis narayana nana de Nicéville, 1888 were presented for the first time.The geographical distribution of 67 species within 5 genera of the tribe were documented and analysed. It showed that Southwestern region was the most widely distributed area in which 5 genera were 100%, and 55 species were 80.09% of the total presented; but genera abundance followed by Southern China Region with 4 genera, accounting for 80% and the species with Central China Region ranks second. The Inner Mongolia-Xinjiang Region, both with least genera and species, 20% and 10.45% respectively.A checklist, index of Chinese names and scientific names of Neptini were attached.
