The 3D geological modeling and visualization technology are hot currently in the field of petroleum exploration. They not only help to solve the technical problems faced by oil exploration and other fields, but also have high research value.It is quite difficult to do the stratigraphic classification automatically according to the drilling information because the pretreatment of original data usually requires stratigraphic classification and spatial interpretation made by experts. The decisions are made based on drilling information, expert experience and traditional 2D survey diagram of engineering. Meanwhile, the accuracy of stratigraphic distribution cannot be guaranteed during the process of virtual drilling data interpolation. To solve the above problems, synthesizing the existing theoretical research and practical results, the traditional 2D figure layered approach is abandoned in this paper. Based on the DEM interpolation algorithm, this paper constructs a multi-layer DEM and solves the stratigraphic level intersection problem through the fitting geological function. Through comparative analysis, this paper choose the current most popular irregular grid TIN triangulation to simplify the formation interface and add layer number into the traditional TIN data. Considering TIN triangulation, the topology is linked level by level according to the layer number from top to bottom. Finally, a 3D model constructed on real logging data is established, which is developed from GTP model. This method addresses the problem of being prone to display cavity of the traditional GTP model.Experiments show that the model which is based on the hybrid model and visualization technology proposed in this paper meet the real demand of the logging enterprises. It should be an efficient, feasible solution.
