Geothermal energy as a clean energy source, its rational development and utilization have a positive meaning to the community, the environment and the economy.Geothermal research mainly concentrated in the yinchuan plain in Ningxia Hui autonomous region in the past, and there is a lack of thermal analysis study of the entire system in Ningxia.Firstly, this paper identified the Ningxia regional geothermal geology, hydrogeology and geothermal field characteristics.Secondly, with geophysical data, it delineated the scope of geothermal reservoirs in Ningxia, dividied the geothermal fields and the geothermal prospective area.Finally evaluation of the geothermal resource in geothermal fields is calculated. It is necessary to have knowledge of Ningxia’s regional geothermal geology including stratigraphy, tectonic(particularly new tectonic movement), the geophysical properties, which combined the hydrogeology, geothermal field characteristics will analyze the geothermal condition entirely.Field data shows that Ningxia’s geothermal primarilyis deep geothermal resources of hydrothermal type, geothermal exists here and deep aquifers are closely related, so this study divides the groundwater system in Ningxia, identifies the distribution of the Cretaceous and Ordovician, and the Neogene and Paleogene aquifers;Regional tectonic can drive the heat of deep rock or the lavatransmitted up.in general,heat from the silent and older rock is easy to run out along the history, Neotectonics is of important guiding significance for geothermal research now, Ningxia’s Quaternary strong activity of faults are mainly concentrated in yinchuan plain, and it also has distribution in the arcuate structural zone of southern Ningxia;On the physical features of the Earth, the lithosphere structure which shows Low velocity zoneoften reflected the existence of rigid lava, Moho surface’s uplift is also good for hot forming, shallow display of Curie interfaceoften reflect that rock below the surface temperature is very high so it’s easy to heat the shallow aquifer.Of course, geothermal wells and springs are the most direct and effective information on geothermal, and geothermal research conclusions are often base on it as the ultimate criterion for geothermal.Magnetotelluric is good to reveal the deep strata structure, and its low resistivity generally reflects the chracterastics of water abundance and thickness of cover layer, besides it’s conducive to the thermal conductivity of water,which corresponding to the hot reservoir and caprock;on the contray,High resisitivity generally reflect rigid molten rock corresponding to the heat source.Using magnetotelluric to delineategeothermal range in many studies have indicated it is possible.On the basis of the identification of geothermal geology, using 7 profiles of magnetotelluric in Ningxia shows 4 geothermal fields, they are yinchuan plain geothermal field,niushou Mt-Roshan thrust belt geothermal field, shuangjing—loufangou geothermal field, temple mountain lakes geothermal field; 4 geothermal prospect area, namely the weining North mountain geothermal prospect area, Luo mountain plain geothermal prospect area, geothermal prospect area in tianhuan Syncline, liupan mountain geothermal prospect area.At last,Using thermal storage method calculatedthe geothermal resources in four geothermal fields, yinchuan plain geothermal resources is 8915.95×1014KJ, which is a large geothermal fields.In Areas of southern Ningxia, niushou Mt-Roshan thrust belt geothermal field, geothermal resources is 0.7976×1014KJ; shuangjing—loufangou geothermal field, geothermal resources is 1.0876×1014KJ;Temple mountain lakes geothermal field, exploitable geothermal fluid heat is 2402.2×108KJ per year, they are all small geothermal field.
