The study area is located in southwestern Guizhou province, mountainous terrain, karst landform development in this area. Large parts of this area we find great topographic relief, lush vegetation, difficult transportation, these factors caused great difficulties to 1:50000 regional geological survey works. On the basis of analyzing the present research status at home and abroad, this paper used remote sensing technology and remote sensing image processing software, conducted pre-process and enhancement process on the original remote sensing data, combined 1:200000 existing geological data and the field reconnaissance, some remote sensing geological interpretation signs have been established, interpreted rich geological information for the 1:50000 regional geological survey, and references for proper workload deployment and top priority in order to reduce the workload in the wild, shorten working hours, lower the cost of mapping and improve the accuracy and quality of the mapping.With the constantly update of the satellite sensor technology, the resolution of remote sensing image constantly improve, the application of remote sensing technology also grows, thus remote sensing technology plays an especially important role in 1:50000 geological investigation. In the process of remote sensing geological interpretation, this paper used SPOT6 date as original remote data to do a series remote mapping pre-treatment methods of Ortho-rectification、Image fusion、Image cropping, in true color display, through visual interpretation, interpreted strata and geological structure information. At the same time, this paper selected ETM+ data adopted a series remote mapping enhancement methods of linear contrast stretch、principal component analysis to adjuvant interpret, which upgraded the interpreting and analyzing abilities. These methods of work make many references to remote sensing information extraction for 1:5 0000 regional geological survey work of similar areas.In the process of the field mapping, we completed remote sensing geological interpretation signs and improved the sketch of interpretation and compiled the final remote sensing geological interpretation map. The results and accuracy of interpretation in line with the requirements of the 1:50000 geological mapping work. In the meantime, using ASTER date as original remote data and adopting “mask + principal component analysis + density segmentation” method to extract iron staining and hydroxyl alteration information of the study area. We compared the results of alteration extraction with existing mineral data, there is a ore spot in accordance with alteration zone which demonstrate the effectiveness of the alteration extraction results and indicate the direction for the next step prospecting work.
