Due to the advantages such as the smaller volumes and the larger expansion size, the nested telescopic boom structure is widely applied to the field of production and life. The nested telescopic boom structure is designed by model of the equivalent step beam. The internal contact is ignored. There are many imperfects in the design code because of the deficiencies on this structure. A few safety accidents have happened between whiles. So the future study on the nested telescopic boom structure is urgent required.In this paper, by taking the two rectangular section booms as the research object, the contact finite element model is built with Structure analysis soft ANSYS to study and analyze the contact problem. The contact pressure, node displacement and node stress can be obtained. Then, the change law of section internal force of the overlap parts along the axis can be calculated based on the finite element theory. The major research content is as follows:Firstly, the paper introduces the application prospect and the development situation from such aspects as the structural characteristics and the structure form and then gives a description of the basic thinking of the contact theory on dealing with the nested telescopic boom structure. This paper shows briefly the basic steps and the problems needing attention in the analysis of this structure with ANSYS software.Next, using the mapping results onto a path to analysis the contact stress on the surface of sliders and found that:the contact stress on the four corner points of slider’s surface is the largest. The four corner points are the maximum stress points.Further, this paper analysis the impacts of the rigidity of the slider’s material on contact stress. A slider of the smaller rigidity of material should be selected under the premise of stability and not destroying of structure.Finally, the change law of section internal force along the axis can be got with the method of the stress integration. The result shows that:the down slider’s length can be determined. The change of the section internal force is not obvious with the increased of upper slider’s length. The result shows that the upper slider’s length has litter influence on the stress distribution of down slider. using the stress integration to get the section internal force...
