With the gradual deepening of China’s onshore oil exploration, the exploration targets of oil and gas reservoirs, from structural reservoirs to lithologic reservoir, became subtle reservoir exploration targets from lithologic reservoirs at last. The thin sand, as a typical hidden oil and gas reservoirs, is the important exploration potential object. However, due to the limit of the seismic vertical resolution, thin reservoir identification is the problem which geophysicists have been efforts to overcome. In this paper, combined with the fact example of the thin sand reservoir seismic prediction in GaoTaiZi reservoir of LongHuPao oilfield, various seismic inversion technique is compared in the advantages and disadvantages of thin sand seismic reservoir prediction. The commonly used seismic inversion technique is reviewed, and their characteristics is compared. then, the more classic four seismic inversion methods are choosed to use in Gaotaizi oil layer of Longhupao oilfield.The four inversion calculation module included in Jason software is mainly used in this research: Rocktrace(Prestack sparse pulse inversion module), Inver-trace plus(Poststack sparse pulse inversion module),Rockmod(Prestack geostatistical inversion module),Statmod(Poststack geostatistical inversion module). The principle and algorithm of the four seismic inversion technology is summarized. Through the comparison and research of the four kinds of inversion results, the Rockmod inversion module based on the prestack geostatistical inversion technology, broadening the results of seismic inversion and excavating the elastic parameters of information contained in seismic data, can precisely characterize the spatial distribution of thin sandstone. This study provides strong technical support for further search for Gaotaizi reservoir in Longhupao oilfield.
