Karst area is distributed extremely widely in our country, which is over one-third of the area of the total land. The Karst cave is a major potential geological hazard in the process of construction and using of the engineerings.Therefore,the work of exploring the Karst caves is of great importance for the engineering quality,which assists and guides the later effective preventive measures. Ground Penetrating Radar technology is a new and shallow geophysical exploration method, which is widely used in survey works in various fields,also it achieves good effects in the work of exploring the Karst caves.After reading a large number of literatures related to karst caves and Ground Penetrating Radar,the design of the paper focus on the idea of theory combining with practice.Firstly,the content gives a brief overview of geophysical prospecting technologies such as Ground Penetrating Radar,compares them in the application of exploring Karst caves,and introduces the relevant knowledges of the Ground Penetrating Radar in details.Then,the paper describes the basic theory of electromagnetic waves which is useful for the quantitative analysis of Ground Penetrating Radar technology,electromagnetic properties of medium and the propagation properties of electromagnetic wave in the medium,which theoretically discourses the feasibility of exploring the karst caves by using Ground Penetrating Radar Lastly,combining with specific engineering project and clinging to the particular point of exploring Karst caves, the paper introduces Ground Penetrating Radar’s work mode,work parameters etc. And by comparing the result of the karst caves exploration using Ground Penetrating Radar with the later drilling result,the paper verifies the feasibility of exploring the karst caves by using Ground Penetrating Radar in actual practice. |
