Seismic forward modeling is the analysis basis of seismic date acquisition, processing and interpretation, and can provide theoretical foundation and scientific assessment for seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation. By seismic forward modeling, we can check the rationality of design, and the reliability of the result of processing and interpretation, and the validity of the validity of inversion method and resultThe forward modeling has played a key role in seismic prospecting and is an important technique of seismic exploration methods. It can associate the geological model with seismic response and seismic reflection characteristics have double meanings which both contain geophysical meaning and specific geological meaning. The seismic forward modeling is an effective way to get wave propagation law in geological model. The results contain the wave travel time, propagation path, energy change. Seismic forward modeling is used to get clear congnition about the kinematics and dynamics characteristics while wave is propagation in complex media and analyze accurately reflection wave field characteristics which are generated by geological structures. If the geologic model is built on the basis of real seismic data, then certain rules can be obtained and help people to know more about underground geologic which can supply certain guidelines about solving the real geologic problems.Because the underground geologic condition is complicated, it is not easy to recognize the complex reflection reflection characteristics from the seismic data which have been processed, At this time, seismic forward modeling can play its role in this. The seismic forward modeling is an effective method to recognize the wave propagation theory、 law and wave field characteristics in complex geologic media. The research of the seismic forward modeling can get comprehensive congnition about the wave propagation law in complex geologic media, and is helpful to build the seismic response recognition mode about different geologic bodies. What is more, it is helpful to foretell the favorable target body using refection seismic characteristics which is helpful to foretell the favorable target body using reflection seismic characteristics which is helpful to avoid generating multi-solution in the interpretation processing and enhance the precision of the data interpretation and increase the success of the exploration of subtle gas and oil reservoirs.This paper first reviews the development histories of the seismic forward modeling method and reviews the theories of ray-tracing techniques and wave equation methods in detail. According to a contrast and analysis, wave equation method is used to do seismic forward modeling. This paper also analyzes the relationship between petrophysical parameters and seismic responses and chooses the proper wavelet for seismic forward modeling. This paper begins with the simple model and goes from easy to the difficult and complicated, and gets seismic wave field characteristics about various complex reservoirs. Through changing the parameters of reservoirs, seismic response characteristics of different porosities, different fluids can be gotten and support some guidelines for the recognition of complex reservoirs. The development of the seismic wavefield forward modeling techniques can provide scientific basis for the comprehensive interpretation of seismic data, delineating the gas and oil reservoirs and its boundary rightly.
