Bozhou City is a typical water shortage city of Huaibei Plain, Anhui Province, which has abundant surface water resources and serious pollution, thus has limitedwater resources available. Bozhou City takes groundwater as principle water supplysource and its long period of pumping of groundwater has caused environmentalproblems such as surface subsidence. To analyze present situation of groundwaterexploitation scientifically and predict evolution trend of areas having serious overdraftof groundwater under the condition of limited exploitation, this paper chose VisualMODFLOW software based on the principle of finite difference and ArcGIS based onspatial differential analysis, took advantage of exploration results of43drillings,generalized hydrogeologic conditions of districts whose area amounts to8374km2,established three dimensional numerical unsteady flow model of Bozhou City, whichcan accurately reflect drawdown of each confined aquifer caused by exploitation afterbeing identified and corrected with statistical results of groundwater resources andlong series of dynamic data of50diving and10confined water observation wells, used ArcGIS software to get an annual decline rate of groundwater, and analyzed andevaluated situation of overdraft in Bozhou City combining with division standard ofoverdraft districts. Based on this model, the paper analyzed distribution and evolutionprocess of groundwater overdraft districts during simulation period, for the deepaquifer overexploitation divided areas, overdraft area59.8km2.forecasted water levelvariation of each confined aquifer after arrangement and configuration of waterresources, dissected evolution trend of serious groundwater overdraft districts and putforward measures and schemes of limited exploitation, which provides forcefultechnical support for efficient utilization of groundwater and sustainable developmentof social economy in Bozhou City, thus having great significance to rationalutilization, protection and management of groundwater resources.
