Based on example of practical geophysical exploration, this thesis carried outs a researchon the specific application of induced polarization method on the groundwater-finding. Wechose Nanliu hot mineral water as the research area which is located in Wuzhi Mountain,Shang’an Village of Qiongzhong County, Hainan province. The study purpose is not only tofind the spatial distribution of fault structures, and the characteristics of water conductionstructure and heat-storage, but to delineate the thermal anomaly to figure out the exactposition for drilling, and to provide the evidence for the engineering verification and furtherexploration.According to the field investigation, we collect the geophysical data, the previoushydrogeology survey data and combine them together. In addition,we also preformed sometests for the method. We used both the induced polarization (IP) method and the resistivitymethod to set up the IP Intermediate Gradient section with100m×20m network grids and8profile sections,248sites in total; the electrode spacing of power-supplied AB for this IpIntermediate Gradient is1200m; the measurement distance is40m; the survey distance is20m,two-way short pulse mode power supply and the power circle is8seconds, the supply currentgradually is above2000mA, while the measuring potential is more than30mV.By the pre-processing on the IP Intermediate Gradient scanning data and the resistivitysounding data, we compiled maps and by combining with the hydrogeological data and thegeological background data we figured out the comprehensive inference maps. Only onelower apparent resistivity anomaly is identified in this survey area, and inferred the fracturestructure of controlling springs. Our research found thatDρs1was possibly caused by thedepressed base rocks with the underground water. The low resistance with high polarizationanomaly is obvious that means it has the direct connection with the surface springs, so weinferred that the fracture of controlling springs is the NE trending, which iss gently slop inshallow part and steep in the deeper.
