Carbonate reef is the typical complex and concealed reservoir, the characteristicof which is irregularly distributed in space and difficult to explore. The reservoir ofSandykly south slope on the right bank of the Amu Darya belongs to thedot reef zone reservoir, the various reservoir types and complex gas-waterrelationship of which often lead to the low reliability of gas-water reservoiridentification in the study area. This paper focused on reef reservoir gas-water identification research and basedon high quality pre-stack seismic data, has developed a series of technologies whichare suitable for biological reef reservoir gas-water identification in this area. First ofall, we can summary the characteristic of gas and water reservoir through thepre-stack wave equation forward modeling technique and pre-stack elastic inversiontechnique. The second step is calculating the shear wave velocity according to theshear wave inversion method based on pore structure inversion. The third step isbuilding the high precision fluid identification factor by the velocity of shear waveand compression wave, and then choosing the factor (Poisson’s ratio and highprecision fluid identification factor) which is sensitive to gas and water and analyzesthe threshold value. The final step is comprehensive apply all the analysis andconclusion above to predict gas-water distribution based on compression and shearimpendence calculated by pre-stack elastic parameter inversion. The study has shown that the gas-water identification technology obtained thegood application effect in Sandykly south slope on the right bank of the Amu Darya, including the total gas-water match rate is89.2%and the average error is7.6%between predict gas thickness and test gas thickness. This technology providestechnical guarantee to the progress of the exploration techniques in this area and toachieve geologic target of reserve growth. It has extensive application prospect andvaluation.
