Compared with solar cycle 22,both the observations of solar activity and space weather in solar cycle 23 have a comprehensive promotion in aspects of the content, accuracy and continuity of the observation. This has provided a good condition for our statistical analysis of solar cycle 23.Based on the data of each active region in 1996-2008 provided by NOAA, this paper has analyzed the activity area of 1996-2008.In the statistical analysis of the number of different areas of activity area when it comes to the time, the longitude and the latitude,we use the maximum area during an active area appear in the visible solar surface. According to the statistical analysis, we get the following conclusions:1.the majority is the smaller active area, where only about 1% of the total activity region belongs the area of more than 1000μh.2. The solar cycle 23 has significant characteristics where the level of solar activity increased very fast and still appears very strong in a very long time of decreased solar activity period.3. Our studies have suggested that the area of a activity region is not a key parameter to determine whether a region is a super active region.4. The Carrington longitude distribution of the area of active region over 1000μh has a characteristic of drift. In X-class flares of the solar cycle 22, the United States Marine Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) does not provide the high temporal resolution flow values for each soft X-ray flares in 1-8A band, and also does not provide the integrated folw value of 1-8A band. However, in the solar cycle 23, NOAA provides integral flow value of each flares in 1-8A band, we use FSXR represents an integral flare flow value in 1-8A band. According to each flare value FSXR and its corresponding information of the activity area, we can get the integral sum value of 1-8 A band flare flows (denoted by ergs·cm-2)in an active region. By the statistical analysis of integral flares flow value of 1996--2008 years in active regions. we get the following results:1 With the value of FAR increased, the number of active regions also sharply declined. And the relationship between the number of active regions with the value of FAR is N(FAR)= 2026e-22.23FAR.2. The maximum area of an active region with its produced soft X-ray flux integral values of all flares (FAR) has a good correlation, however the flow value of a soft X-ray flare (FSXR) of an active region with the its area can not find any correlationWhen the flare broke out, the majority of the vast energy distributed in the visible band, and the light photons of soft X-ray band represents a small part of the total radiation energy photon flare. However, because of the large integral value of flare flow in 1-8A band, the total energy of flare is still large, so we use the soft X-ray band integrated value of both hemispheres flare to analyze the asymmetry of the released energy in the two hemispheres related to 1997-2008 period, and we get:in 1997-2000 period, the flare energy released in the Northern Hemisphere is higher than that in the Southern Hemisphere, and,in 2001-2008 period, the flare energy released in the southern hemisphere is higher than that in the northern hemisphere. However,in 1997-2008 period, the flare energy released in the southern hemisphere is still higher than that in the northern hemisphere.A lot of studies have been done to research the relationship between the super active zone and flares have, but few works can be found to study the correlation between the super activity area and solar proton events and geomagnetic storms.12 super active region is sorted by this paper in the point of view of released flare energy from each active zone, then a brief analysis of the effects of solar proton events and geomagnetic storms Effects has been done in the super active region of solar cycle 23.The following results were obtained:1. Based on the sum of integrated value ranging from 1-8 A band of all flares produced by the 12 super active region in solar cycle 23. The 12 super active regions is sorted as:10486, 10808,10720,9415,9393,10930,9077,10484,10488,10069,8307,8100.2. The super activity areas will not only have a lot of strong flare events, but also generate a lot of GLE events and a number of large storms event.
