The area of Bailing Mountain is belonged to in Shanshan County, Xinjiang province, in which there are large scales of iron ore deposits including iron mine of Tieling, Hongyun Beach, Chilong Peak(red dragon peak) and Bailing Mountain. They are found in the Battle of Iron Ore which happened in the 60 s to 70 s of twentieth Century. From the perspective of cause, there are mainly two kinds of believes, the first one is about magmatic hydrothermal type; another one is about the marine volcanic sedimentary type(The first geological brigade of Xinjiang Bureau of Geology and mineral resources,1978; Qi Zhiming,1985;Li Xiaojun,1999;Zhang Hongying,2000).On the basis of previous studies, in my paper, I carry out detailed investigation about field and indoor synthetic analysis about Bailing Mountain iron ore deposits especially on the study of geological characteristics, mineralogy and geochemistry. It reveals the background of metallogenetictectonic, material source of mineralization and genesis of the iron ore deposits. From the investigation I gain the following understandings:1. The iron ore of Bailing Mountainmainly exists in the first lithological section and the second lithological section of the group of DiKaner, and its ore mainly types include Lump, massive types, banded types, and a small amount of disseminated types. Obviously, the iron ore controls by fracture, and the contact boundary is clear between the surrounding rock and massive magnetite ore, this indicating that such minerals are formed probably by pumping the iron ore slurry in the surrounding rock directly.2. In the graphic of TiO2-AL2O3-(MgO+MnO),the magnetite of Bailing Mountain mainly falls in metasomatic hydrothermal type iron ore area, temperature is between 300℃ and 400℃. All of these indicate that the magnetite of Bailing Mountain has the characteristics of hydrothermalmetasomatic mineralization.3. Iron ore’s value of δ34S is between 0.4‰ and 1.68‰ Bailing Mountain, and the average value is 1.0425‰. The value of δ18O(SMOW) is between 1.4‰ and 2.3‰. It demon strates that the minerals from the upper mantle.4. The gross of tombarthite elements of the Bailing Mountain’s magnetite is very low. Generally, the relative enrichment of LREE and loss of HREE show that there is obvious differentiation between HREE and LREE.δEu ranges from 0.22 to 1.89, andδCe ranges from 0.74 to 0.9. Those two elements display a weak loss for Eu and Ce. Therefore, it shows a reducing environment and it also indicates the source of ore-forming materialis deeper, which comes from the low crust or upper mantleprobably. In conclusion:the iron oredeposit in Bailing Mountain is a kind of composite type of the magma-hydrothermal iron ore.
