Bainiuchang silver polymetallic deposit is located in the southeast of Yunnan Province, which belongs to the super large deposit, and also is a typical ore deposit which is influenced by the unreasonable arrangement of the exploration project.The variation law of ore body is an important factor to determine the degree of exploration network, and the reasonable prospecting net degree should be determined according to the research results of the variation law of the ore body. The optimization of exploration system is based on the system analysis of the variation law of the ore body, according to the determination of the optimal Survey Net degree, the prediction of the target area for reasonable engineering layout, in order to achieve the best exploration results of the ore body. With the continuous development of the geological statistics, the variation function has become one of the best ways to study the variation of the ore body. In this paper, the variation law of the ore body in Bainiuchang is studied systematically, and the exploration types are divided according to the traditional method. According to the different characteristics of each mine section, taking variation function as a tool, respectively study the grade variation function of the main ore-forming elements in each ore section and the whole mining area, and according to the range of variation function to determine the reasonable exploration grid. According to the relationship between the 3D model of the ore body and the exploration project, combined with the variation regularity of the ore body and the optimal exploration degree, the target area is determined, and the reasonable exploration project is designed. The main results are as follows:(1)The main ore body (V1) ore bodies shape, thickness and grade change of Bainiuchang silver polymetallic deposit has bigger difference, In Baiyang-Chuanxindong ore section varies greatly and is more complex, in the Duimenshan-Awei ore section relatively small change. The change degree of the exploration is underestimated, and the variation of the heterogeneity is not considered. After this study, Baiyang-Chuanxindong ore section belongs to the II exploration type,which Duimenshan-Awei ore section belongs to I exploration type.(2) V1 orebody although like layer on the whole, but in Baiyang-Chuanxindong ore section, due to the combination of fault and fold, compared with other parts of the ore body boundary shape is more complicated. Ore body thickness changes is relatively stablei in general, but in the fold formation collapse space thickness is thicker. Through analyzing the grade change coefficient of main ore-forming elements, Ag, Pb, Zn elements have similar distribution, all have the characteristics of the space change is uneven, from the north west to south east gradually decreases.(3) To the establishment of the geological database of 6265 sample data of 432 drilling, after dealing with the samples were analyzed. Based on geostatistics theory, variation functions as the main tool, create the different ore section Ag, Pb, Zn element grade variation function. On the continuity of the three main ore-forming elements, strike direction is best, the tilt direction is second, ofthe thickness direction is the worst. According to the variation of the variation function, the optimal exploration net degree of different ore section is determined, which is more accurate than the traditional method,the proposed Baiyang-Chuanxindong ore section prospecting network degree is 50×30m, the Duimenshan-Awei ore section due to the variability of tailings is lesser, the exploration network degree may adopt 80x75m.(4) through the three-dimensional model of the ore body, combined with variation of thickness and grade, speculated that in the southwest side of Chuanxindong ore section may concealed thickness and higher grade better ore body.but according to see the three-dimensional images of the exploration engineering, the mine in less engineering here, not very good reveal concealed orebody, need further in the middle and surface increase the project, to achieve the required survey grid. However, according to the three-dimensional map of the exploration project, it is found that there are fewer mining projects in this area, which can not reveal the concealed ore bodies.
