Corner cube array is composed of a large number of pyramid unit. Each pyramid unit contains three perpendicular plane of reflection. It has been extensively applied in distance measurement and traffic signs. In addition to its retroreflective performance, it can also be used as a phase conjugator when meets certain conditions. Now as a phase conjugator, it has been applied to the communication, laser resonator, wavefront correction,interferometry mesurement and helmet imaging and so on.As a kind of important micromachining technology, laser direct writing has the advantages of high precision, powerful 3D fabrication ability, maskless and high efficiency. The phase conjugate imaging characteristics of corner cube array were analyzed in this paper. Based on laser direct writing technology, the design, fabrication and application of corner cube array were studied. The main contents inlude the following several parts.First, we briefly expounded the develpoment status of high precision three-dimension micro-optical devices and the principle of laser direct writing technology. Then, we analyzed the application of corner cube array in the three-dimensional display.Second, theoretical analysis to diffraction imaging of corner cube array is carried out, mainly includes the retroreflection property of pyramid unit and the diffraction property of corner cube array screen, experimental simulation is conducted on the retroreflection imaging of corner cube array retrorefletor.Third, the production of corner cube array screen was performed based on laser direct writing tecnology. Photoresist coating test and exposure response test were conducted. At last, the production of large format corner cube array with a good retroreflection effect was successfully achieved by the laser direct writing, precise electroforming and UV replication techniques.From the above, followed by the application requirements of high precision 3-D micro-optical devices, we achieved large format and high-precision corner cube array screen and verified its application in the three-dimesional display. This related research has tried a lot for promoting the commercialization of micro-optical devices and 3-D display in the future.
