Handheld GPSs and the equipments of GPS-RTK with high accuracy are generally used in the 3D seismic exploration to locate the stations. The cost of seismic exploration is increasing rapidly because of the traversal of locating the decade thousands of the stations and seismic sources, the large time-consuming, the high equipment-costing and the plenty of labor. In seismic exploration, there is a hot issue which attracts much attention. The issue is integrating GPS chips into seismic data acquisition station, and making it low cost, high accuracy, self-localization and easy-operating.A suitable chip should be chosen by considering factors as follow: good accuracy, appropriate positioning method and right price. The chip has been selected by comparing with others. The positioning method whose accuracy meets the need of seismic exploration has been chosen through testing the accuracy of GPS-mode, BD-mode and the GPS&BD-mode. The paper expounded the theory of differential position, and expand the function which enable the chips differential position. The study optimized chips with the correction of pseudo range, and eliminated the errors which decrease the positioning accuracy in user stations. The GPS positioning accuracy levels has been improved from 10 m to submeters. The need of the accuracy in seismic exploration has been satisfied by using means above.
