| By identifying the determined specimens of darkling beetles which are collected in the Museum of Hebei University and collecting the data in relevant literature from Taiwan, then discussing the diversity and faunal composition of darkling beetles contacts with the mainland of China and Japan, the preliminary results are shown as follows:1. species compositionAccording to the latest classification system, the catalogue of Taiwan darkling beetles were summarized. In total, 559 species belonging to 137 genera, 30 tribes and 6 subfamilies were documented. During the study, 1 genus and 1 species were newly recorded in Taiwan: Oodescelis Motschulsky, 1845; Oodescelis(Acutoodescelis) punctatissima(Fairmaire, 1886).2. fauna composition and distribution type1) The fauna ingredient was complex, and species diversity was rich, as well as the proportion of endemic species was high. 2) Composition of darkling beetles from Taiwan within Chinese fauna: The fauna composition of Taiwan darkling beetles is typical fauna of South China Region also closest to Central China Regionand Southwest Region, meanwhile far from other Chinese fauna regions. Composition of darkling beetles from Taiwan within the world fauna: The cross-region distributions were few, fauna composition was mainly Sino-Japanese and Oriental.3. darkling beetles of Taiwan and contact among mainland of China and Japan1) similarity analysis: The fauna of Taiwan darkling beetles is evidently close to that of Japan(0.483); Secondly, it close to that of Fujian(0.396) mainland of China.2) fauna characteristics analysis: The fauna composition of Taiwan and Japan darkling beetles were mainly Sino-Japanese and Oriental. It indicates that the fauna characteristics of Taiwan and Japan has interpenetration between Sino-Japanese and Oriental species.3) latitudinal gradient analysis:a. The quantity of species distribution of each latitude region showed a decreasing trend from low latitude to high latitude.b. G-F index of all study regions decreased from low latitude to high latitude.c. The species similarity between regions from south to north of Japan and Taiwan showed a decreasing trend.4) the relationship between area and species distributionTaiwan has a much smaller size than Japan, while has a greater species diversity of darkling beetles. To some extent, species diversity of beetles was caused by fauna character and environmental heterogeneity, not area. |
