This dissertation paper was mainly dealt with the morphology classification and geographic distribution of the butterfly family Pieridae from Gansu Province. The total of 8 genera 24 species were identified and illustrated based on the specimens collected from Longnan,Tianshui,Lanzhou,Dingxi,Wuwei, Zhangye and Gannanof Gansu province during 2012-2015, of which 24 species of the external appearance of adult and male genitalia, 11 species of female genitalia were provided for the first time, then the fauna of the subfamily of Gansu provincewas analyzedas as well. All the specimens were deposited in the insect collection of college of grassland science of Gansu Agricultural University(GAU).The taxonomy system was according to Monographia Rhopalocerum Sinensium(Chou, 1998), Classification and Identification of Chinese Butterflies(Chou, 1998) and Fauna Sinica(Vol.52,Lepidoptera:Pieridae,Wu Chunsheng,2010).The morphologic terminology was according to Monographia Rhopalocerum Sinensium(Chou, 1994), and the four subfamilied system of Pieridae was agreed. The external genitalia dissected by useing traditional method. All the specimen and external genitalia were photoed in Stereomicroscope with camera, and then processed by using Montage image and Photoshop software. The total of 8 genera 24 species of butterfiy Pieridae were described and illustrated, of which 5 genera 13 species belong to subfamily Pierinae: Mesapia with 1 species, Pieris with 5 species, Pontia with 1 species, Aporia with 4 species, Anthocharis 2 species, and 3 genera 11 species belong to subfamily Coliadinae:Colias with 8 species, Gonepteryx with 2 species, Eurema only 1 species.Fauna and geographical distribution of Pieridae in Gansu are as follow: The 19 species of mountain land of Qinling, Huaiyang and Longnan province was the dominantly distributing region which occupied 79.2% of the total; the secondly was Qinghai-Tibet mountain meadow soil, Qilian mountain subprovince with 17 species which occupied 70.8%;the highland and fell-field province,Gannan plateau, gorge subporvince, middle part of arid region of loess plateau, Longdong highland with 14 species respectively, which occupied 58.3% and was the third; and Hexi Corridor and Beishan desert subprovince of Hexi Corridor only with 13 species which occupied 54.2% of the total. The fauna of family Piefidae in Gansu were that 14 species belong to Palaearctic, which occupied 58.3% of the total, and 9 species were widely distributed species, which occupied 37.5% of the total; and only 1 species belong to Oriental region, which occupied 4.2% of the total. So the Palaearctic species were the dominant species of Pieridae, and Oriental and widely distributed species took the second place in Gansu province.
