Debris flow is a kind of common natural disasters in mountainous areas,tending to have the characteristics of sudden outbreak,causing destructive results. At the same time,the collapse,landslides and the floods will break out accompanied with debris flow,so the endanger is more terrible than a single disaster.It is one of disasters that lead to economic losses and casualties in the most mountainous countries and regions.As one of coutries that affected by debris flow disaster,Tanchang is suffering from Medium and small mudslide occasionally because of effect of natural and human factors in recent years,especially affected by affected by the Wenchuan earthquake,and then Disaster and Control Engineering is carried out. With the diversification and matured of prevention and control technology, and given the shortcomings of traditional blocking dam, gabion dam was applied to the prevention and control of debris flow.The national demonstration project-new gabion debris flow dam in Tanchang is the backgroud for the paper,it introduces the construction process of the engineering.The impact of debris flow is very huge,which contains the impact of the huge stone and mud.Using nonlinear finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA to simulate the impact,the distribution of stress,the displacement,the acceleration, the reaction force,the kinetic energy of the stone under the impact of stone,and have some comparison to dynamic response with stone masonry dam,also simulate the dynamic response of the dam under the impacet of stone with different velocity and simulate the static performance of the dam under the pressure when dam is full of the deposition.At last,it recites four different types of profile by changing height of the step and the arrangement,then having a comparison of dynamic response to the actual project.The comparison of dynamic performance and dynamic performance with different volecity show that:(1) the impact force has a close relationship with materials performance of the dam,the gabion dam can better buffer the impact; (2) each part of gabion dam can deform concertedly so that the stress can be transfered evenly,which will reduce the maximum tremendously and the safety performance will improve. (3) when the velocity of the stone is greater than 12m/s,the overall stress is great,maximum lasts longer time,the deformation of the upper part is great,which indicates the gabion dam can not bear greater velocity or impact energy.By comparing the dynamic response of gabion dam with different types of profile,the result shows that:the displacement,the impact force,the reaction force is little whose upstream surface is vertical, taking various factors into consideration,this type is superior.The above study results verify the application of gabion dam in Tanchang,and also provide reference information for the design of engineering.
