Flame retardant acrylic fiber is a new kind of functional fibers. Between flame retardant acrylic fiber and ordinary acrylic fiber the physical property is very close. Flame retardant acrylic fiber moisture regain is less than2%. Flame retardant acrylic has high strength, good elasticity, dimension stability, at the same time has also good dyeing property and strong chemical resistance. It has a board prospect to develop flame retardant acrylic fiber fabrics.First of all, the high flame retardant acrylic fiber/combed cotton yarn with5different blended ratio (100/0,70/30,50/50,30/70, and0/100) was developed and the spinning processes and the technical parameters of each process were discussed. The tensile properties, elastic properties and the friction properties were tested for the yarns. The results show that the higher the content of high flame retardant acrylic fiber, the better tensile elasticity, abrasion resistance of blended yarn; the higher the content of fire retardant in acrylic fiber, the better tensile elasticity, abrasion resistance of blended yarn.Secondly, the yarn was knitted into interlock fabrics, and the mechanical properties and comfortability of knitted fabrics were tested in order to analyze the relationship between the high flame retardant acrylic fiber content, fabric tightness, flame retardant content on acrylic fiber knitted fabrics.Finally, in this paper the limit oxygen index method, vertical burning method and cone calorimeter method were taken to test the flame retardant properties of the knitted fabric and analyze the relationship between the high flame retardant acrylic fiber content, fabric tightness, flame retardant content on acrylic fiber and flame retardant properties. The results show that the higher high flame retardant acrylic fiber content, the better the flame retardant properties of the fabric, but the smoke production gradually increased. Thus when the fabric flame retardant performance was considered, the smoke hazard should also be considered at the same time.
