Shanxi Coking Co., Ltd. adopts the main process of coke oven gas being mixed withpurified gas from water gas to produce200,000T/A methanol, which is the first time beingused in our country. And also due to the first application of water-gas transformation-freefine desulfurization process, this methanol production process is not very mature, and thewater gas production unit has not been running normally all the time, which results theunstable operation of methanol production plant and the insufficient methanol productiondesign capacity. In order to solve the problem which limits the full-load operation ofmethanol unit and solve the urgent problem existing in water gas fine desulfurization process, this paper makes a study on the new water-gas transformation-free fine desulfurizationprocess. In the new water-gas transformation-free fine desulfurization process, the catalytichydrogenation was used instead of medium-temperatured hydrolysis, in which organic sulfurtranslate into inorganic sulfur; the pipe of oxygen was added in order to insure the lowestoxygen/sulfur rate in actice carbon desulfuration; and “888” activation was empoloyedinstead of “OMC” activation in the pressurized wet desulfurization system. The newtechnology solved the high byproduced sulfide formation rate in the hudrolusis reaction andsolved the problem that byproduced sulfide can be removed during the downstream process, which makesmany indiced of wate-gas system operation can not meet the design value andresults the short running period of the system. Above-said problems settled, the200,000T/acoke oven gas mixed with water gas for methanol production plant of Shanxi Cokong Co.,Ltd. could be put into full-load and stable operation, and its sulphur removal efficiency washigher than95%.After the study on water-gas transformation-free fine desufurization new technology out, furthermore, this paper proposes to carry out the capacity-expansion modification for thewater gas desulfurization system to make full use of this company’s surplus water gas anddeeply exploits its methanol plant’s potentialities for increasing methanol output and reducing its raw material supply pressure of600,000T/A MTO plant.
