A famous city is always born with a famous river, and they rely on each other.However, with the rapid development of urbanization and continually utilization onriver waterfront, water quality in the rivers deteriorates and floods frequently, which arealways vibrant. River health is getting increasing attention of the public. It is a basicproblem in river health assessment that how to evaluate the poor landscape in the basinfrom the view of river health. This paper based on preliminary studies of the researchgroup, aiming at landscape suitability in river health assessment index system, bystudying the relationship of hydrology and water quality characteristics of differenttypes of land, and a mountainous urban river landscape health suitability assessmentmodel was established. The model is used to study the input response relationshipbetween watershed landscape and river hydrology and water quality. A case study wasgiven and main results are as follows:1) The characteristics of hydrology and water quality of different types ofmountain city land were studied, and the hydrology and water quality characteristicvalues of different land use types were obtained. By studying the impact gradient has onrainfall runoff under different land use type in mountainous urban, it shows that in fiveland use types (cultivated land, garden plot, grass ground, concrete pavement and urbangreen land), runoff coefficient increases with gradient; arboreal forest and shrubberyshow the same runoff producingcharacteristic, the impact of ground gradient can beignored; because of its particularity,ground gradient has no impact on city roof. Thewater quality in rainfall runoff of five land use types (urban green land, living quarters,traffic area, commercial district and industrial park) were researched and analyzed forrunoff pollution characteristics and influence factor in different land use types, thusdetermined rainfall runoff pollution concentrationcharacteristic values of different landuse types.2) On the basis of the results1), a river landscape health suitability assessmenttarget system of mountain urban was established. This assessment system can assess theriver landscape suitability, but can also assess the river health assessment with the riverecological health and the harmony between river and human. 3) The land use planning of Chongqing Yuelai Eco City was evaluated by the riverlandscape health suitability assessment model, and the assessment results showed thatthe land use planning gets39.46points, which was in the basically suitable assessmentlevel, but the comprehensive runoff coefficient index assessment result was poor.According to the landscape suitability assessment results, some suggestions werepresented to the water resource integrated utilization.
