Friction Stir Joining (FSJ) is an advanced joining technology widely applied in the aviation andaerospace and the transportation. The technology will have a broad application aspect. Thetemperature field and stress field, the transformation and the acting force in the joining zone for FSJwere discussed in the paper. The main work and results in this thesis are shown as follows:1.A dynamometer specialiy designed was used to study the FSJ forces for aluminum alloy and theeffect of the FSJ parameters to the forces in X, Y and Z direction was analyzed.2. The model of the FSJ heat source was built, and the temperature field in the FSJ process wasanalyzed. The finite element was used to make the simulation of FSJ temperature field, and its cloudchart about the temperature was obtained.3. The stress distribution in the joining zone was studied based on the thermal-mechanical couplingmethod. The changing of the stress with the time in X, Y and Z direction was discussed. The residualstress for FSJ was measured by hole method and the sound effect of the finite effect application in FSJwas proved.4. The transformation of the workpiece was simulated according with the stress analysis. Thedisplacement distribution in the zone near to stirring head was analyzed. The transformation trendalong with the direction of the thickness plating in the position near to the joining center was obtained, and the final displacement was measured.
