As the rapid development of nuclear science and technology, nuclear safety and radiation safetyare paid full attention. The novel radiation protection materials are urgently needed and have broadapplication space. Basing on the research situation in the world and the actual needs, this thesismainly use functional nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes to reinforce epoxy resin to enhance itsradiation shielding properties and study the radiation shielding effects and the law of functionalnanoparticles and carbon nanotubes in composite. The main research results are as following:(1) The WinXCom software was used to simulate and calculate the radiation shieldingproperties of single functional particles and combined particles. The results reveal that the massattenuation coefficient was related to the energy of radiation and exist different absorb peak. Theelemental contents were optimized and found that different functional particle could be combined toenhance the radiation shielding properties.(2) Several kinds of functional nanoparticles(Sm2O3、WO3、Bi2O3)/carbon nanotubes/epoxy weresuccessfully prepared and tested. The results reveal that the product had good mechanical properties.Moderate carbon nanotubes could enhance the tensile strength and bending strength of composites.The addition of functional nanoparticles and functional nanoparticles distinctly enhanced the radiationshielding properties for low energy γ ray. The addition of functional nanoparticles did not distinctlyenhance the radiation shielding properties of epoxy.(3) Functional nanoparticles(Sm2O3、WO3) modified carbon nanotubes were prepared firstly.Then, functional carbon nanotubes were employed to reinforce epoxy. Comparing to functionalnanoparticles/carbon nanotubes/epoxy, functional carbon nanotubes/epoxy exhibited better radiationshielding properties for low energy γ ray. The as prepared composites had excellent anti-radiationproperties.
