Acrylic emulsion has many excellent properties, for instance, excellent weatherresistance and aging resistance, good adhesion and gloss retention, high gloss, goodheat resistance and corrosion resistance, etc. So it has been commonly used as coatingfilm-forming substances of water-based anti-corrosion coatings.In this paper, a water-born acrylic anticorrosion emulsion with core-shellstructure was synthesized by using BA, St, MMA as the main polymerizing monomer,GMA and MBI as cross-linking monomer, PAM-100as functional monomer, andorganic silicone as modified monomer. Synthesis experiments showed that: with thecomplex of polymeric emulsifier SR-10and female non-composite emulsifierDNS-458as emulsifier, when the amount of composite emulsifier is between0.8to1%, the emulsion has better performance; designing hard core and soft shell structure,when the core-shell ratio of6:4, the latex film has good water resistance andfilm-forming property; latex film has good hardness, low water absorption and highgloss when the ratio of St/MMA is6/4; compared to AA and MAA, using MBI ascross-linking monomer could improve water resistance; using GMA/MBI(GMA:MBI=1:1) as cross-linking systems, the latex film has high degree ofcross-linking and good water resistance when amount of MBI is2%; Compared tophosphate EM-39, PAM-100has better anti-corrosion property, adding3%PAM-100with adding delay style could prevent flash rust; compared to KH-570and YHD-151,AC-76has lower hydrolysis rate in the water, adding1.5%AC-76when the shellpre-emulsion remaining1/2, polymerization stability and comprehensive property isthe best.FTIR tests showed successful synthesis of silicone-modified water-based acrylicanti-corrosion emulsion. SEM image showed that latex particles were spherical andlatex particles tightly packed after curing. TEM figure showed that the latex particlehas clear core-shell structure. DSC diagram showed that polymer has two the glasstransition temperature, which was14.82℃and48.36℃. Application tests showed that: compared with commercial acrylic emulsion,modified acrylic with excellent anti-corrosion property, the film has no obviousphenomenon of blister and rust for360h in3%neutral salt water; after addingwater-based rust inhibitor (Raybo-60), salt water resistance time could achieve452h.water-based anticorrosion coatings was prepared based on the acrylic emulsion, and itcould meet the design specifications of repair coatings for bare corroded reinforced ofconcrete bridge, which could play a good repair corroded reinforcement effect.
