As the existing underground wireless communication system can’t adapt to thecoal mine working face environment which is complex, changeable and mobile, thepaper takes the development of visible light communication as an opportunity to putforward the visible light communication system applied to coal mine working face,looking forward to providing a new solution for mine communication.Research is conducted on key technologies of visible communication system incoal mine working face in this paper. The feasibility and necessity of applying visiblecommunication to underground coal mine and relevant theory of visible lightcommunication technique are introduced firstly. Next, the overall structure of visiblelight communication system in coal mine working face is proposed and the principle,implementation and key technologies of the system are discussed in detail. The paperfocuses on two kinds of key technologies, namely light source cover and channelmodel. By comparing the performance of different light source cover, the optimizedlight cover is proposed to apply in the long and narrow coal mine working face in theresearch on light source cover. With reference to mine lighting criteria, simulationresults indicate this illuminance can meet the requirements. Combined with practicalenvironment and the characteristics of visible light communication, the applicationscenario and channel model of coal mine working face visible light communicationare built. After that, simulation description of system SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) andBER (Bit Error Ratio) are conducted by analyzing impulse response and channel dcgain. The scattering characteristic of dust particles in coal mine working face for theoptical signals is discussed and scattering attenuation characteristics under differentparticle size is obtained in the end.On the basis of achieving lighting, visible light communication system in coalmine working face can be used for information transmission, and has a favorableapplication prospect. The paper focus on two kinds of key technologies and it lays atheoretical foundation for the system implementation.
