High oil-absorption resin was a low cross-linking polymer based on hydrophilic monomers, which can be used as the filtering material for oil and smoke, the modifiers for rubber and other synthetic resins, release substrate for flavor and pesticides. The high oil-absorption resin absorbs oil or organic solvents by the van der Waals forces between the polymer and molecules of oil or organic solvents. Compared with traditional oil-absorption materials, high oil-absorbing resin has a lot of advantages such as high oil absorption, good capacity, selectivity, non-toxicity, easy recycle, good heat resistance, etc.. We prepared high oil-absorption resin used a novel cross-linking agent, and the high oil-absorption resin has high oil absorption rate, good mechanical strength and low cost. The influences of cross-linking agent, initiator concentration and monomers ratios on oil absorbency of the resins were investigated in this thesis.The novel cross-linking gent (reactive oligomeric silsesquioxanes, OSS) was prepared using silane coupling agent with double bond. The high oil-absorption were prepared using styrene (St), butyl acrylate (BA) and steary methacrylate (SMA). The2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) was used as initiator. The influences of monomers ratios, content of AIBN and OSS on the properties of resins were investigated. The structures and properties of the high oil-absorption resin was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravity analysis (TGA). The relationships between the structure and absorptivity of the resin were studied by swelling experiments in various organic solvents such as chloroform, dichloromethane, toluene, chlorobenzene, xylene, benzene, acetone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide, cyclohexane, etc..The binary high oil-absorption resin (P(St/BA)) was synthesized using St and BA as monomers. The absorptivity of P(St/BA) for Chloroform reach maximum when the dosage of St was33.3wt%, dosage of OSS was0.21wt%, dosage of AIBN was1.3 wt%, the reaction temperature was55℃and the reaction time was12h. And the saturated oil absorption rates of the P(St/BA) resin for chloroform, dichloromethane, chlorobenzene, toluene, tetrahydrofuran, acetone, dimethylformamide and cyclohexane were74.1g/g,72.7g/g,55.3g/g,48.1g/g,45.3g/g,32.0g/g,30.0g/g and1.6g/g respectively. And the oil retention percentage for these solvents were more than90%and could be reused for more than ten times.The ternary high oil-absorption resin (P(St/BA/SMA)) were synthesized based on binary resin by SMA using as new monomer. The absorptivity of P(St/BA/SMA) for Chloroform reach maximum when the dosage of St was39.6wt%, dosage of SMA is20.8wt%, dosage of OSS was0.21wt%, dosage of AIBN was1.5wt%, the reaction temperature was55℃and the reaction time was12h. And the saturated oil absorption rates of the P(St/BA/SMA) resin for Chloroform, dichloromethane, chlorobenzene, toluene, tetrahydrofuran, acetone, dimethylformamide and cyclohexane were80.2g/g,74.0g/g,44.1g/g,37.7g/g,33.6g/g,14.3g/g,3.9g/g and20.1g/g respectively.
