In recent years, NOxhave become the most important pollutants from theexhaust gases of various combustion sources. The use of carbon materials has beenproposed as a possible way in the catalytic reduction of NOx. Activated carbon hasthe advantage of convenient storage and transportation, better low temperatureactivity and nearly100%N2selectivity, etc. In this paper, a weak acid ion exchangeresin with metacrylic substrate and carboxyl acid groups WK10was used as astarting resin. The preparation of activated carbon of WK10has been determined. The activity of removal NOxof WK10based activated carbon loading metalcatalytic, and the influence of the preparation conditions of the catayst and reaactionconditions have been studied.Four typical ion exchange resin including polystyrene substrate andtrimethylamine groups PA412, polystyrene substrate and three amino groups, polystyrene substrate and sulfonic acid groups PK228and metacrylic substrate andcarboxyl acid groups WK10was used as raw resin. They were carbonized in hightemperature of nitrogen atmosphere to prepare activated carbons. Their propertieswere characterized by SEM and BET. It was shown by the results that the PA412and the PK228remained spherical form with high BET surface and pore structure.WA30and WK10completely melted as well. Thanks to the crosslinking reagent ofmetal cation, The WK10was developed spherical activated carbon aftercarbonization. In oxygen rich condition, the AC-WK10shows low temperatureactivity of removal NOx.The WK10was exchanged by several cations such as Cu, Zn, Fe, Ni, Co andMn, and were carbonized in high temperature of nitrogen atmosphere to prepareactivated carbons to prepare activated carbon loading metal catalytics. Theirproperties were characterized by SEM, BET and XRD. The activities of thesecatalytics were investigated in oxygen rich condition. The results found that eachcatalytic show differences in surface morphology, pore structure and active centerdue to different metal. The Ni/AC-WK10, Cu/AC-WK10and Co/AC-WK10haveshown better NOxactivity.Because of the catalyst preparation conditions will impact the activity ofcatalysts; this paper studied the influence of the calcining temperature, calciningtime, calcining atomosphere and loading amount of Ni/AC-WK10, Cu/AC-WK10and Co/AC-WK10. The results found that the TRand ηRof Ni/AC-WK10,Cu/AC-WK10and Co/AC-WK10were264℃and81%,190℃and62%,225℃ and68%.
