With the development of the matrix material and reinforcing material technologyas well as the correlative industry, the application of composite is becoming more andmore wide, but the connection is a weak part, which generally bears theconcentrated stress. There are5main ways in the connection: mechanical connection, adhesive bonding, sutural connection, Z-pin connection and mixed connection.Currently, adhesive bonding and mechanical connection are the two ways used mostwidely in this field. In some areas, adhesive bonding is the very way to meet the need ofthe connection. In order to give certain guidance for engineering practice, this articleanalyzes an orthogonal unit in the connection structure T-joint. Concretely speaking,it mainly includes the following aspects:The research is made on the performance of the composite material element. Itsmechanical properties are analysed by analytical method, finite element method andtrial method. The performance parameters of the composite materials are determined, the basic theories for the research on composite connection technology are provided. The T joint is analysed by finite element method. The finite element model isestablished, grid properly divided into and the appropriate material properties applied. The T-joint load-carrying way static load pulling is analysed and the position whichis the weakest is found, the failure sites are judged by applying failure criteria. At lastthe geometrical Parameters of T-joint are optimized. The conclusions are verified with the test methods. A series of specimens are madeand experiments are done on their mechanical properties. Comparing the result of theexperiment with the theoretical results, the correctness of the calculation on the T-jointdamage mechanism is verified. Testing experiments are also made on the optimizationanalyses. It is suitable for the analysis on T-joint and also has certain reference value forthe analysis on other connections.
