Since a boring bar has geometry with a large length-to-diameter ratio, itsstiffness is generally poor in a machine tool. Especially deep hole boring,the boringbar will flutter easily. Chatter is an important factor to affect the surface quality andreduce tool’s life. Deep hole boring machining space is limited, so the traditionalsensors are used hardly to the vibration characteristics online test for deep holemachining. How to accurately obtain the parameters of the vibration characteristics ofthe large length-to-diameter ratio boring bar, to help eliminate the vibration of boring,has become a serious problem. The paper not only has been researched on acombination of modal analysis and work deformation analysis,but it has been in-depthto studied on the vibration characteristics of the boring bar, and takes into account themodal frequencies change of the boring bar for the of cutting heat. Provide the basisfor the dynamic optimal design of the damped boring bar and fiber Bragg gratingsensors layout on the boring-bar for monitoring chatter. This article relates to thefollowing:1、Summary of the research literature, analysis of the boring bar dynamics of thestatus quo, focusing on the characteristics of the boring bar chatter.2、To establish the dynamic model of the boring bar, and on this basis, the use ofthe analytical method damped boring bar the displacement modal analysis and strainmodal analysis, derived damped boring bar strain modal analytical solution.3、The data of displacement modal and strain modal are gotten with analyticalmethod. Based on the data displacement modal and strain modal experimental studiesof a certain type of damping boring bar are conducted to obtain dynamic parameter ofthe damping boring bar and check the correctness of the data.4、 Based on Operating Deflection Shapes (ODS) analytical method andRayleigh-Ritz method, ODS discrete of the boring bar and strain distribution discretein working condition are deduced. Based on the ODS discrete get ODS of the boringbar at different vibrational frequencies. Response changing rule with frequency oftool nose and dynamic stiffness of the boring bar are studied by discussing theweighted impact factor of modal with mode superposition method. Based on the straindistribution discrete, theoretical analysis results of strain distribution can be provedby analyzing strain distribution of damping boring bar in the certain vibrationalfrequency. And strain response changing rule with frequency of test points on the boring bar will be analysised.5、3D Temperature field simulation and thermal modal analysis of the boring barare used to study the impact of cutting heat on dynamic characteristic of the dampingboring bar in the boring processing.
