Membrane material is one of the important materials used in wastewater treatment. In this paper,chitosan/polyethylene glycol (CS/PEG) membrane and chitosan/polyethylene glycol (PEG)/potassiumferrocyanide titanium(CS/PEG/PFT) membrane were synthesized by using chitosan as raw materials, polyethylene glycol20000(PEG20000) as pore-forming agent and potassium ferrocyanide titaniumpowder. The properties, reaction mechanism and application were also studied. The preparation method of CS/PEG membrane and CS/PEG/PFT membrane was investigated. The influences of the amount of glutaraldehyde(GA) and potassium ferrocyanide titanium powder, themolar rate of chitosan and polyethylene glycol were investigated by single factor experiments. Theoptimum preparation conditions of the membrance were following: the amount of glutaraldehyde was1/20of the solution; polyethylene glycol (PEG) and chitosan ratio was1:1; potassium ferrocyanidetitanium was1/200of the total solution. These membranouses’ adsorbing capacity was highest underthese conditions.Through infrared spectral analysis, we can find hydrogen bonding interaction among chitosanmolecules, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and titanium potassium ferrocyanide. The microstructurecharacteristics of membrances have been investigated by SEM, and the results showed that purechitosan membrane was smooth and compact, however, the introduction of polyethylene glycol (PEG)and potassium ferrocyanide caused pore structure on membrance, which was very beneficial toincreasing the treatment efficiency of wastewater.Copper containing wastewater was treated by the three membrances (chitosan/polyethyleneglycol/potassium ferrocyanide), and the results were compared with the removal efficiency of theCS/PEG/PFT membrance. The optimum reaction conditions for the three membrances were following:pH was5.50, the reaction temperature was55°C, the reaction time was2hours, the maximumadsorbing capacity of chitosan/polyethylene glycol/potassium ferrocyanide membranes was9.85mg·g-1,maximum adsorbing capacity of CS/PEG membranes was7.79mg·g-1and pure chitosanmembrane was4.98mg·g-1. The results showed that the performance of CS/PEG/PFT is better thanCS membrance and CS/PEG membrance.Equilibrium concentration-saturation adsorption (ce-qe)thermodynamics linear fitting andtime-adsorbing capacity kinetics linear fitting were applied to study the correlated characteristic of thethree membranes to further discuss copper removal mechanism. The result showed that the process ofcopper removing was in accord with Langmuir equation(y=0.0597x+0.0168) and the liner relevancywas close to0.9966. The most suited kinetic equation was second order reaction kineticmodel(y=7.7136x+0.0451).
