Considering the phenomenon of low single pass conversion ratio of butane hydration,Lanzhou Petrochemical Company and Yantai University studied on the basic applicationresearch of direct hydration butene with phase transfer catalyst. The results indicated thatthe polyethylene glycol was suitable. The industrial trials showed that it had no negativeinfluence on product and the following-up processes. At the same time, the problem of thepressure drop in the hydration reactor increase quickly was solved. However, the actualloss of the polyethylene glycol than the expectation was attracted much attention.Through a series of exploratory experiment, a reasonable recycling of polyethyleneglycol method was obtained. The extraction conditions (solvent ratio and static time) ofthe recycling process were investigated and optimized. Since the polyethyleneglycol, which had high boiling point and complex composition, was difficult to obtainhigh purity substances through ordinary distillation and vacuum distillation. Experimentalresults showed that The vacuum distillation conditions were80.0℃and-0.098MPa. Thepurity of the product was about80.0%when the extraction solvent ratio was2.0and wasstanded for more than2.0hours.This vacuum distillation extraction process, not only reduced the dosage of extractionagent but also realized the effective separation of different light component fractions.Water as extraction agent owned advantages such as abundant, cheap, and good mutualsolubility. The most important was that can return to the hydration process after extractionprocess. Therefore, it will reduce the energy consumption of the process operation andsimplify the recycling process operation. The process has important industrial applicationpotential.
