With the rapid development of automation technology and inkjet printing technology, ceramic inkjet printing technology began to be applied to our traditional ceramic industry.Inkjet printing technology is a flexible way to yield high-resolution images, which can meetpeople’s demand for high quality personalized ceramic products. However, the coremanufacturing technology of ceramic ink has been monopolized by foreign companies. In thispaper, blue ceramic ink was prepared by dispersion method. The physical and chemicalproperties of the ceramic ink was optimized by using potential analyzer, surface tension meterand viscometer. Influences of the type of dispersant, dispersant content and solids content onthe physical and chemical properties of the ink were also investigated. When the solid contentof the ink was15wt.%and the dispersant MAMA2110was1.5wt.%, the ink had the bestphysical and chemical properties. In this paper, cobalt blue pigment was prepared by using cobalt chloride and aluminumchloride as raw materials through hydrothermal method, and the influences of pH, reactiontime and reaction temperature on the product were also investigated. We found pure phaseCoAl2O4can be obtained when the temperature was250℃, pH was13and reaction time was24h.In addition, to improve the compatibility of the surface of CoAl2O4and the dispersibilityof the ink in organic solvent, organic surface modification of cobalt aluminate nanoparticleswas carried out in xylene and ethanol aqueous solution respectively. We found the modifyingeffect in xylene is better than in ethanol aqueous solution by the means of thermal gravimetricanalysis, contact angle analysis, surface area analysis. When KH570/CoAl2O4weight ratiowas25%, the cobalt blue coated KH570possessed the maximum amount of6.06%, thecontact angle reached the maximum140o, and the specific surface area had the minimum10.8m2/g, respectively.
