Mine ventilator is one of the four fixed equipments in coal mine, and their performancesdirectly influence the safe production in coal mine and safety of the staff. In recent years, thefault caused by the decline of ventilator performances is one of the main reasons which leadto the gas explosion in coal mine. Therefore, study on performances test methods of mineventilators will be really meaningful. According to “requirements of safety inspecting-testingspecification in our country and actual demand of coal mine production” AQ1011-2005, andcombined with the real requirements in coal mine site, this paper mainly make a deep researchon testing methods of the air flow of mine ventilator.Through researching on the basic theory of fluid mechanics and fluid machinery, accordingto the distribution rule of air in the fan drift, the new testing method which can be called airvelocity distribution curve was proposed. Compared with traditional method, this new methodcan reduce test cost, and also it can simplify the workload. Aiming at the testing method putforward above, the experimental verifications and analyses on4-72-11N02.8A centrifugalventilator, Y5-48NO4c centrifugal ventilator and KT-4A axial ventilator were donerespectively. The experimental results showed that, the testing method proposed in this papercan realize accurate measurement of air flow.In order to improve the traditional testing methods, the virtual instrument of air flowmeasurement of mine ventilators has been developed in this paper. For actual application incoal mine production, the portable hardware platform that based on USB bus was adopted. Inaddition, based on LABVIEW development platform, the analysis software of air flowmeasurement was designed. The virtual instrument of air flow measurement of ventilator incoal mine replaced the traditional instrumentations, which can enhance automation level andaccuracy of air flow measurement to some extent, and also it can reduce the labor intensity ofthe staff in coal mine.
