In China low alcohol liquor production always with the phenomenon of turbidityand loss of light.Using activated carbon(AC) for turbidity removal is currently themost economical and effective method.Cocomut shell as forestry product can beprepared to high performance AC,and using coconut shell as raw carbon resourse toprepare AC for low-alcohol liquor treatment obviously has economic value. In this thesis,ACS were prepared from Hainan coconut shell by carbonizationand air-steam mixing activation for low alcohol liquor treatment. The influence ofcarbonization heating rate(CHR),carbonization temperature(CT),activator ratio(AR),activation temperature(AT) and burn-off level(BO) on the adsorption and pore sizedistribution of AC were studied.Predicting R1.4~2.0and R+2.0as the selective adsorptionindex of AC based on the mechanism of turbidity removal, then the effect of pore sizedistribution and partical size of AC,process conditions on the turbidity removal wereinvestigated. The study on the preparation of AC shown that CHR affect the escape of tar andgas during pyrolysis and uniformity of pyrolysisi reaction,CT affect the degree ofpolycondencetion of lignite. While AR mainly affected the activation reaction rate,ATaffected the diffusion of activator inside the char and the recation rate of carbon withactivator,BO affected the degree of activation reaction. The influence of each factor on iodine number and methylene blue adsorption ofAC were different.AR,BO and CT shown greater impact on iodine number, whileAR,CT and CHR shown greater impact on methylene blue adsorption. The AC withthe highest iodine number1178.47mg g-1and methylene blue adsorption231.28mg g-1was prepared on the condition:CHR—2℃/min,CT—700℃,AT—850℃,AR—3:1,BO—60%.Medium level of each factor all gone against to obtainhigh specific surface area and pore volume AC,but with the increase of BO thespecific surface area and pore volume of AC getting higher and pore size distributionof AC become wider. The AC with R1.4~2.0—0.15%and R+2.0—16.83%prepared on thecondition: CHR—6℃/min,CT—650℃,AT—850℃,AR—1:2,BO—40%waspredicted to have the best turbidity removal performance. The result of low-alcohol liquor turbidity removal treated with AC show that theR1.4~2.0smaller and R+2.0bigger of AC demonstrate the better turbidity removalperformance which proved the correctness of R1.4~2.0and R+2.0as selective adsorptionindex. The result also indicated smaller partical size AC with better turbidity removal performance, the addictive amount and treatment time of AC both have the bestintermediate values wich determined by the properties of AC.
