Wheel supporting shaft is a key part of engineering vehicle, because of its exceptional work environment; it needs high temperature resistance, hardness, toughness and other aspects of performance. The traditional design methods have been unable to meet the needs of modern production.In this paper, the traditional hot forging process of engineering mechanical wheel side supporting shaft was analyzed. Based on the CAD/CAE technology, artificial intelligence technology and numerical simulation technology, knowledge engineering machinery wheel edge support shaft hot die forging process intelligent design framework was constructed, and the wheel side supporting shaft hot die forging process intelligent design system was developed. On intelligence design process of parts process and mold, the system was not only can carry on the intelligent technical guidance to the designers, but also can carry on the intelligent CAE verification to the initial design, and put forward modify opinions, guide the design personnel to complete the optimal design scheme, and get the optimal technology and die design parameters. So the wheel edge support shaft hot forging forming technology and die design level was improved.The system used Visual Basic.NET language development tools to secondary development of3D CAD software SolidWorks and CAE software DEFORM. The system was able to use knowledge for intelligent guidance of parts design process. The design process included classification of parts, the size of the blank, processing condition, cross section shrinking rate calculation, equipment tonnage calculation step, industry development, mold design, CAE intelligent design and other process. Finally, a typical engineering machinery wheel side supporting shaft design was used as an example to prove the practicability and reliability of the system.
