Since Yangcheng Colliery goes into operation, there has been some serious problems about roadways supporting in the weak and fractured rocks, which has impact the production in the colliery. In some roadways, the both walls shifted, the floor heaved and the roof sunk, which have result in maintaining many roadways, strengthening the supporting, increasing the cost of production and putting a strain on continuing the production. At present, the shaft has been extending. With the increasing depth of coal mining, supporting weak and fractured surrounding rocks will be more difficult. Therefore, the research about supporting the weak and fractured surrounding rocks in the deep shaft is extremely imperative.In the article, the problem about supporting the weak and fractured surrounding rocks in the deep shaft is researching by the methods that are theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and engineering practice. Based on the wild experience of bolting, the problem about supporting by rock bolts is analysed from two aspects that is bolts supporting and supporting design; some design concepts about new bolts system are bought up. Then, a new idea---balance supporting---is presented. The viewpoints of balance supporting are stated. The mechanism of the effect between surrounding rocks and the support is analysed. The key problem of balance supporting system is discussed.In this article, the stress and displacement situation of roadways in weak and fractured rocks are analogue simulated by FLAC3D, which has been used for generating the model that is roadways of No.-650 horizon haulage lateral and No.-920 bottom station, and simulating the surrounding rocks of these roadways with no supporting or supporting, so that the supporting key points of roadways will be ascertained. Based on the simulations, the supporting system scheme of roadways in different surrounding rocks will be designed, according to the balance supporting concept and the wild experience of supporting. After supporting the roadways with designed supporting system, the surrounding rocks of roadways is controlled well, which prove that the designed supporting is adaptable.This research reveals the mechanism of the effect between the weak and fractured surrounding rocks and the supports, designs a effective supporting system, which basically solve the problems of supporting weak and fractured rocks in Yancheng colliery—saving the cost of supporting and maintaining, ensuring the coal cutting and tunneling, and obtaining obvious economical and social benefits.
